New England natives Elisabeth Remy Johnson and Dale Henderson, old friends who met as young music students in Boston in the late 80s and early 90s, team up as the Parsa Duo for a richly textured performance of harp and cello music in two intimate concerts at Yarmouth New Church and Boston’s Swedenborg Chapel. The program will feature works by J.S. Bach, Pablo Casals, Gluck, Lynch and Arvo Pärt, among other modern and popular pieces that will surprise and delight.

ELISABETH REMY JOHNSON was appointed principal harpist of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra in 1995. She holds the endowed Carl and Sally Gable Chair, and also held the honorary UPS Community Service Chair for 2006-07. With the Atlanta Symphony, Elisabeth has performed concertos by Debussy, Handel, Mozart and Ginastera. Winner of first-place awards in competitions of the American Harp Society and the American String Teachers Association, she is also a NFAA/ARTS awardee. She graduated fromHarvard University Phi Beta Kappa with a double major in Music and French. Her harp studies were with Ann Hobson Pilot in Boston and Alice Chalifoux at the Salzedo Summer Harp Colony in Camden, Maine. Elisabeth is co-founder of the Urban Youth Harp Ensemble in the Atlanta Public School system, and was artistic director from 2000 to 2010. http://www.elisabethremy.com/

DALE HENDERSON Described by Yo-Yo Ma as "a very gifted musician, a natural cellist," Dale Henderson began studying cello when he was five. He enjoyed regular performances as a chamber musician, soloist, and orchestra cellist, and made his professional solo debut at thirteen with the Buffalo Philharmonic and conductor Eiji Oue. In 1993, at the invitation of Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Dale attended the International Menuhin Music Academy in Gstaad, Switzerland, and from 1996-2000 Dale earned his Bachelors of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Dale now lives in New York City.
